Ankyloglossia, or tongue-tie, is a condition in which the band of tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth is too tight, causing restriction in tongue movement. This condition can affect infant feeding from both breast and bottle, as well as speech, language, and orofacial development. Dr. Sledge is committed to providing much needed care for infants and children who have this condition. Her laser technique allows your child to be treated with a minimal amount of discomfort, very little post-op pain, and no general anesthesia.
Dr. Sledge has spent time shadowing world-renowned expert Dr. Larry Kotlow, who practices pediatric dentistry in Albany, New York, and pioneered the laser procedure for this condition. She is also a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals.
