Dr. Michael Carter
DMD, Co-Owner
Dr. Michael Carter has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in the Jackson, Mississippi, area for over 30 years. He graduated from Millsaps College, where he played both football and baseball, with a B.S. in Chemistry. He then spent time working at Gulf South Research Institute in New Orleans, as a research chemist specializing in Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Upon deciding to pursue dentistry, he was admitted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Dentistry. He was a member of the first graduating class. Dr. Carter is a member of both the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Association. He is married to Rebecca (Cissy) Carter, and lives in Ridgeland, Mississippi. He attends First Baptist Church of Jackson. His hobbies include hunting, golfing, and spending time with his three children and ten grandchildren. Dr. Carter is passionate about dentistry, and loves helping people achieve their best smile possible.
Dr. Catherine Sledge
DMD, Co-Owner
Dr. Catherine Sledge is a born and raised Jacksonian. She graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi’s Barksdale Honors College, and then received her D.M.D. from the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Dentistry in 2011. Dr. Sledge’s professional passions includes ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) treatment in infants and children, and smile makeovers in adults. She is one of the only doctors in Mississippi who uses laser technology to treat tongue-tie, with no need for anesthesia. In addition, Dr. Sledge is a continuing education speaker to other medical professionals about this topic.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Association, Mississippi Association of Women Dentists, International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals (IATP), and American Laser Study Club. Dr. Sledge has had longtime involvement in fighting childhood obesity in our state, spearheading projects such as the You’ve Gotta Move classroom DVD and writing children’s book Anna’s Choice. She is a member of the Junior League of Jackson and First Baptist Church of Jackson.
She is married to financial advisor Taylor Sledge of Sledge and Company, and they have three boys, T.Mark, Amos, and Solomon. Their family enjoys traveling and having adventures together!
Rachael Williamson
Dental Hygienist
Rachael has been in dentistry for 15 years and joined the Carter Sledge team in July 2019. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in the Dental Hygiene program at University Mississippi Medical Center in 2007. She values developing strong relationships with her patients as well as providing excellent care and helping them achieve their best oral health.
Outside of dentistry, Rachael enjoys family and fitness. She and her husband are active members of First Ridgeland Church. They were married in 2011 and welcomed a baby girl into the family in 2015.
Mercedes Donaldson
Dental Hygienist
Mercedes Donaldson graduated from the UMMC Dental Hygiene program in 2009. Originally from Michigan, Mercedes has been in Mississippi for the last 16 years. Mercedes has been married to Matt Donaldson for the last 12 years and they have 2 children, Aiden and Asher.
Britney Jarrell
Dental Assistant
Britney has been working at Carter Sledge Family Dentistry since 2019. She is from Madison, Mississippi. She graduated from Madison Ridgeland Academy, then attended The University of Mississippi. Britney achieved her dental assisting certification in 2018. Britney’s friendly approach and warm demeanor allows her to achieve great relationships with her patients at Carter Sledge. Britney’s favorite thing about being a part of the Carter Sledge team is not only seeing patients get the care they need, but also being able to communicate with and get to know her patients.
Genya Berry
Finance Administrator
Genya Berry administrates the secretarial/financial duties at Carter Sledge Family Dentistry. She has been with the Carter Sledge team for a combined 10 plus years. Genya is originally from Seattle, Washington, and moved to Mississippi to attend Belhaven University and play with their women’s soccer team. She and her husband now reside in Madison, and spend their time trying to live a healthy life by participating in various physical fitness activities. Their combined four boys, Hayden, Chase, Carsen, and Cruz, also keep them busy and full of life!
