Meet the Dentists
Dr. Michael Carter has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in the Jackson, Mississippi area for over 25 years. He holds a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center as well as a B.S. in Chemistry from Millsaps College. Dr. Carter not only loves coming to work every day, but he is also passionate about giving each patient the smile they need and deserve.
Dr. Carter has received additional training in almost every facet of general dentistry, including Implant Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, Periodontics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, and Oral Surgery. His special interest in cosmetic services and a positive patient experience has driven him to achieve certification in CAD-CAM dentistry, which allows more immediate and beautiful results for patients.
Dr. Carter is very active in his community and has a special interest in the issue of childhood obesity. Along with his daughter, Dr. Sledge, Dr. Carter has been actively fighting childhood obesity in his home state of Mississippi since 2004. He currently resides on the board of the Mississippi Obesity Prevention Council.
He is a native of Wiggins, MS, but has lived in Jackson since receiving his degree. Dr. Carter is married to Cissy, and they have three children. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys golfing, hunting, and exercising. He is an active member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Dr. Catherine Carter Sledge holds a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, as well as a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Mississippi. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Association, and the American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Sledge is passionate not only about dentistry, but also about each patient’s experience in the dental office. It is her commitment that patients leave happier, healthier, and refreshed each time they visit our office.
Dr. Sledge has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and is passionate about helping each patient achieve his or her most beautiful smile and the confidence that comes with it. In addition, Dr. Sledge has completed externships in endodontics and oral cancer detection.
When she is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Sledge is involved in numerous ways in the Jackson area community. She is a member of the choir at First Baptist Church of Jackson, and loves to sing in church and at various community events. Dr. Sledge is also committed to the cause of fighting childhood obesity. In 2005 she authored a children’s book, Anna’s Choice, which was published and subsequently distributed to every elementary school in the state of Mississippi. Dr. Sledge also partnered with the Mississippi Community Education Center to develop You’ve Gotta Move, a set of classroom exercise DVDs for Mississippi public schools. Dr. Sledge was featured as a principal actor and vocalist.
Dr. Sledge is married to Taylor Sledge, and they have one son, T.Mark Sledge. They also enjoy their two furry children, Ruby and Teddy! In her spare time, Dr. Sledge enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
