Welcome!
As this is an introduction of sorts, we would like to say hi, and welcome! We are happy that you’ve decided to visit Carter Sledge Family Dentistry’s blog, and hope that this first entry will give you a little insight into who we are. Though our practice has recently become Carter Sledge Family Dentistry, it has been around for quite a while! Dr. Michael Carter, our founding dentist, has been practicing dentistry in the Jackson, Mississippi area for over 25 years. He is originally from Wiggins, MS, but moved to Jackson as a young adult while he attended Millsaps College on football scholarship. He met his beautiful wife, Cissy, while in dental school, and they have three wonderful children.
Dr. Sledge, the youngest of those three children, followed in her father’s footsteps and after graduating from the University of Mississippi, went on to earn her DMD from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Both Dr. Carter and Dr. Sledge hold Doctorates of Dental Medicine from the Medical Center. Dr. Sledge is married to Taylor Sledge, of Sledge and Company Financial Services, and they have two dogs, Ruby and Teddy.
As we hope that you are our patient (or, if you are not, that you will come give our practice a try!), we would like to tell you a little bit about our practice philosophy. We are a Jackson, MS, general dentistry practice with a focus on cosmetic dentistry. There is nothing our doctors love more than to see someone’s life changed by a brand new smile! Sometimes we don’t realize how much our teeth affect us—for example, have you ever found yourself self-consciously checking your teeth in the mirror, or tending to smile close-lipped? Dr. Sledge and Dr. Carter are skilled in smile design and have the ultimate goal in mind of helping YOU reach the goal you have for your smile.

What makes us different, you might ask? We feel that the father-daughter team aspect of our practice is one-of-a-kind for this area! But even more than that, the way our entire team loves to pamper each patient and make him or her feel special is what sets us apart. Our goal is for each patient to leave thinking, “Wow, going to the dentist isn’t so bad anymore!”
